Located in Fort Baker, Cavallo Point is situated on the edge of Marin County across the Golden Gate Bridge one mile from Sausalito. Owned by Passport Resorts, who also operate the tony Post Ranch Inn, it's the first large-scale development within the former Army base that guarded the Golden Gate Bridge. The eco-friendly lodge at the heart of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area features the a culinary school as well as the Fort Baker Institute, a nonprofit think tank that aims to rival the Aspen Institute.
A mix of Craftsman meets Stylish northwest decor create a stylish but environmentally relevant feel for the lobby and in-house Murray Circle Restaurant that's been well regarded by culinary reviews nationally. Cavallo Point is also home to a Healing Arts Center specializing in sacred movements as well as spa-based retreats made to order that's currently one of the best in the Western United States.
The Room
The eco-friendly lodge offers a breathtaking grassy bluff location with panoramic views of San Francisco Bay and surrounding National Park. The main resort is composed of 142 guest rooms decorated in a cozy California meets New England design including spa-like bathrooms and gas fireplaces. Several original buildings that once housed officer’s residences have been rehabilitated to contain an in-house culinary school, creative arts center and holistic training program with medicinal herb garden.
